I am very pleased to announce that I have completed my ImPACT concussion care training for Physiotherapists.

I graduated 30 years ago as a Chartered Physiotherapist. During that time I have gained extensive experience in helping people to manage muscle, joint and mobility problems.
Assessment of any musculoskeletal or mobility problem involves first listening carefully to your history, how your problem affects you personally, and what your goals are. Whether your aim is to return to sport, or simply to be able to reach your top shelf in the kitchen, I can work with you to help you achieve this.
The next step is to assess your movement and perform specific tests to identify your problem. I will always explain my findings and outline the different options available so we can plan your treatment together.
Treatment recommended will depend on clinical findings but could include:
Over the years I have developed an additional special interest in Vestibular Rehabilitation, which means helping people with dizziness and balance problems as a result of inner ear dysfunction. This is also referred to as vertigo.

Over the years I have developed an additional special interest in Vestibular Rehabilitation, which means helping people with dizziness and balance problems as a result of inner ear dysfunction. This is also referred to as vertigo.
Many people with vertigo also have problems with their cervical spine (neck) or their temporomandibular joint (jaw). This can be associated with jaw pain, headaches, ear pain, or tinnitus.
If you have made a poor recovery form concussion, it may be because of damage to your vestibuar system or your neck at the time of injury. I can assess to see if physiotherapy may help you.
I take a holistic view of all of the factors contributing to your symptoms in order to offer specialist care tailored to your individual condition.
Do you experience dizziness when you move your head or turn in bed? You could be suffering from vestibular vertigo. This is caused by a dysfunction of the inner ear (the vestibular/balance system) and can often be helped with specialist physiotherapy.
If you have had your ears examined for persistent pain or tinnitus and been told there is nothing wrong, it's worth considering physiotherapy.
It is possible that your symptoms are due to a problem with muscle tension or neck/jaw stiffness. These can lead to headache or ear symptoms because of the shared nerve pathways between these systems.
This is the joint between your lower jaw (mandible) and the temporal bone of your skull. If you place your fingers directly in front of your ears you will feel this joint move as you open and shut your mouth. In addition to jaw pain, TMD may also cause clicking or locking of the jaw, earache, tinnitus, headache or vertigo.
